Installation on MacOS
Data-Forge Notebook is installed on MacOS through a dmg file.
After downloading the Data-Forge Notebook installer it should appear in your downloads directory like this:
That screenshot shows version 1.8.1, the version that you download will be version 2 or later.
Double click the installer to start the install process. You should see a window like this:
Now drag the Data-Forge Notebook icon to your Applications folder.
You'll see a progress bar displayed while it installs. If you are installing over a previous copy of Data-Forge Notebook click "Replace" at this point to install the new version over the top of the old version.
After installation has finished, open your Applications folder in Finder and double click the Data-Forge Notebook icon to start the application.
The first time you run Data-Forge Notebook it might not be allowed to open. This is because I am not yet a certified Apple developer (it costs a lot of money).
To allow Data-Forge Notebook to run on you Mac please click the Apple icon in the top left corner of your screen then open System Preferences. Now double click on Security & Privacy.
Now:
- Unlock the page so it can be edited.
- Check that it is Data-Forge Notebook that was blocked (if there's another app listed here you might not want to allow it).
- Click Open Anyway to allow Data-Forge Notebook to run.
You only have to go through these steps the first time you run Data-Forge Notebook. From now on you can open it as normal from your Applications folder in Finder.
If this is your first time installing Data-Forge Notebook you'll now arrive at the setup screen.
Otherwise, if you have previously installed Data-Forge Notebook it is already setup and you should now see the welcome screen.
